With special thanks to Gwen Lee, Lee Huiqing and Leonard Yang. You see differently in the jungle. A long lens compresses space in a way it cannot in a room. Light affects organically. The world is palpitating. The jungle overwhelms. The pre-planned narrative is overthrown. Trees and monuments are much the same thing. They are actors in their own stage, and we marvel at their qualities of stillness, their poise and presence. The landscape need not come out to the audience.
